Veterans Days Observance
November 14, 2021 @ 11:00 am – 12:00 pm
Dear Temple Emmanuel Members and Friends,
As you know, our country is more divided today than at any time since the Civil War. So at this intensely partisan moment, Veterans’ Day, with its potential for unifying us at least temporarily, takes on even more significance than usual. Therefore, Chelsea’s Temple Emmanuel has decided to resume its traditional Veterans Day ceremony.
We are pleased to invite you to join us in what will be about a 45-minute tribute to the nineteen million living veterans who have served this nation’s armed forces with distinction. Of course, we are particularly indebted to those Chelsea veterans who have filled our country’s frontline military ranks in disproportionate numbers since the advent of an all-volunteer service. And we owe a special measure of gratitude to Chelsea’s Jewish war veterans who gave their life for their country during one of the World Wars.
We will gather around the flagpole in Temple Emmanuel’s courtyard at 11:00 AM on Sunday, November 14, weather permitting. Our courtyard is at the corner of Cary Avenue and Gardner Street. Please enter directly through the Gardner Street gate, which will be open. This symbolic ceremonial event will be an opportunity for us to revisit the experience of coming together as fellow countrymen and women with a higher purpose.
We will welcome any Veterans’ Day thoughts you care to share. I wholeheartedly encourage you to join us as we honor the country’s military veterans and reflect on their nonpartisan, selfless devotion to our democratic republic.
