Preserving Temple Emmanuel’s priceless memories, cultural legacy, and community ties.
Temple Emmanuel of Chelsea serves Reform and Conservative congregants from across the North Shore of Massachusetts. We offer a Reform siddur for Shabbat services and festivals and a Conservative siddur for the high holidays. We are a warm, inviting and spiritual Temple. All are welcome to come and experience our Temple family.

Our Committees…
Our members who volunteer to make up committees are mission-driven, contribute their time and resources, provide temple and community support, and organize events and programs. These committees help provide advocacy and collaboration to the temple, it’s members, and the greater Chelsea community.

The Building Committee
- Ensures maintenance and code compliance of the Temple’s building, equipment, and environment.
Calendar Committee
The Calendar Committee
- Plans, promotes, and manages Temple Emmanuel of Chelsea’s programs, activities, and events.
- Develops and distributes Temple Emmanuel of Chelsea’s monthly calendar.
Cemetery Committee
The Cemetery Committee
- Updates and maintains a cemetery brochure, deed ownership, and burial records.
- Sets aside cemetery space for family plots, cremated remains, and non-Jews.
- Creates grave lot purchase and death notification policies and procedures.
- Establishes a comprehensive price list for grave lot purchases.
- Forms mutual assistance agreements with Torf’s Funeral Service and other end-of-life institutions.
Communication Committee
The Communication Committee is
- Uses virtual communication technology to its maximum advantage.
- Distributes Temple Emmanuel of Chelsea’s monthly events calendar and e-newsletter.
- Manages the content of Temple Emmanuel of Chelsea’s website.
- Promotes visits to Temple Emmanuel of Chelsea’s social media.
Finance Committee
The Finance Committee
- Develops and reviews monthly and annual financial statements.
- Reviews open invoices and resolves chronically unpaid bills.
- Establishes an online bill-payment system linked to Temple Emmanuel of Chelsea’s checking account.
Grants Committee
The Grants Committee
- Responds to public, private, and non-profit grant opportunities
- Manages Temple Emmanuel of Chelsea’s grant-funded project activities, finances, and reporting requirements.
Historic Preservation Committee
The Historic Preservation Committee
- Responds to historic preservation grant opportunities for the Temple Emmanuel of Chelsea’s property.
- Develops and sustains a story-telling Jewish Chelsea Museum at the Temple.
Membership Committee
The Membership Committee
- Brainstorms in-person and virtual events that will attract or retain Temple Emmanuel of Chelsea members.
- Maintains accurate, updated postal mailing lists of Temple Emmanuel of Chelsea and Sisterhood friends and members.
- Contacts Temple Emmanuel of Chelsea’s friends with a warm, friendly invitation to become members.
Religious Committee
The Religious Committee
- Plans, designs, and publicizes regular and special Temple Emmanuel of Chelsea’s religious services.
- Lead and co-lead Temple Emmanuel of Chelsea’s religious services.
Visionary Committee
The Visionary Committee
- Acquires and applies resource development and financial management skills.
- Adds new friends and members from nearby communities to the congregation.
- Uses Temple Emmanuel of Chelsea’s facilities to generate memorial, recreation, event, and rental income.
- Uses Temple Emmanuel of Chelsea’s facilities to build community engagement and cultural enrichment.

Mutual Care Team
Our Mutual Care Team ensures that phone calls or personal visits, as appropriate, are made to members of Temple Emmanuel of Chelsea for those who may be suffering from an illness or loneliness.
Shiva Minyans Team
Our Shiva Minyans Team organizes Shiva Minyans when and as required. The team, visits Shiva homes and ensures that sufficient persons and prayer books are present for grieving Temple members to hold Minyans.
